As a market leader in technology information for design engineering teams, Digital Engineering’s focus is on cutting-edge editorial content to help design engineering teams discover, evaluate and specify the technologies and processes that shorten the design cycle and enable optimal designs. It is not surprising that in the latest June Issue there are three articles featuring NVIDIA Quadro GPUs and how they are making a difference to design workflows.

In his article Real-Time Ray Tracing Arrives, David Cohn, contributing editor for DE, covers how DE recently received NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000RTX 5000 and RTX 4000 boards to test and review. After comparing these latest Quadro RTX GPUs with previous generations using SPECviewperf 13 and performing additional tests using SolidWorks 2019 and SolidWorks Visualize, Cohn concludes that with the launch of the Quadro RTX, yet again “ …NVIDIA has introduced new GPUs that deliver unprecedented levels of performance. “ Read Full Article

The New Age of GPU-Driven Product Design written by Randall S. Newton, discusses how software companies such as Dassault Systèmes, PTC and ANSYS are finding ways to accelerate CAD with GPUs and not just for graphics and rendering.  Newton cites many examples including how SOLIDWORKS Visualize takes advantage of NVIDIA’s new AI-based denoising technology to reduce the “grainy” look in images. In a previous Blog we covered Brian Albright’s article on Superworkstations which looks at and how advanced technologies such as ultra-fast GPUs have made it possible for designers to utilize real-time simulation, rendering, virtual reality applications and complex data science on a desktop engineering workstation.
